RHS Chelsea Show Garden Design 2004
Show Garden Design For The Wildlife Trusts Gateway Garden
Awarded a Silver Medal and Peoples Choice Award. This courtyard garden was designed to show how wildlife could be encouraged into a town garden and featured nectar rich plants for butterflies, moths and bees. The garden included a compost bin, a shallow pool for amphibians, nesting boxes for birds and bats, a Hibernaculum and bee pots for solitary bees. The garden was built using rendered block work walls with brick piers and featured an oak gate behind a classically detailed garden arbor with a wildflower meadow roof. The paving featured was a light grey shade of natural slate. David Bellamy was invited to the garden and spent over four hours discussing wildlife with the Chelsea crowds.
