Show Garden Design For The Azorean Garden
This full size show garden has been designed to illustrate the volcanic and sub-tropical character of the islands that go to make up the Azores. Inspiration has been taken from some of the naturally occuring geological features that include a pool and waterfall typical of many of the islands and planters constructed of Azorean volcanic rock, that highlight the UNESCO World heritage vineyards. Key elements include tropical planting, a misty hot spring and an underground oven where the traditiional meal 'Cozido' is cooked. The surface of the garden will be covered with scoria, a naturally occuring volcanic gravel. Planting includes Ferns, Cannas, Agapanthus, Palms, Hydrangeas and lush evergreen shrubs and trees.
